Who is “Center Choice Advocacy”

Center Choice Advocacy, while first conceived as an idea on the February 8, 2025, has its roots with its founder’s and wider public’s discontent with the nation’s two-party system.

Since Washington left office and especially after the Civil War, the United States’ political system has been made up of primarily two parties. Primarily is the key word as there have been times in our nation’s history where tertiary options have gained ground. Congress during the 1850’s was known for having multiple parties in it, mainly due to the collapse of the Whig party. 1912 is well known for the Republican Party falling into third place in the Presidential Election due to Progressive Candidate, former Republican Theodore Roosevelt. 1968, a turbulent year for American Politics, saw the last time a third option gained Electoral Votes and that was Alabama Governor and Segregationist George Wallace win 13.5% of the Popular Vote and 46 Electoral Votes. Then, 1992 and 1996 are well known for being three-way races with the third option, H. Ross Perot Sr, having a plurality over the Republican and Democratic candidates in 1992 summer polls but later finished with almost 19% of the Popular Vote. Less known, 1998 saw Minnesota electing a third party candidate to the Governor’s Office (Jesse Ventura). More recently, 2024 early on saw high support for a third party candidate (Robert F. Kennedy Jr.) who dropped out in late August after falling polls and legal hurdles.

All of these are both used as evidence against and for third-party options, with Ventura commonly ignored due to his victory. We believe that even with our current system, it is possible for a third option to win, despite all challenges. We aim to do this by spreading information about third options, encourage others to consider third options, and educate others on a possible multi-party or fully independent Congress and Oval Office.
